Sweet Corn Fest

Can you believe the July weather? It's been so nice out so we've been enjoying it as much as possible. The coolest weekend in July happened to fall on the day Wade couldn't wait for...the Sweet Corn Fest at Powell Gardens in Kingsville, Missouri. He's had it on the calendar for several months...his mouth drooling at the thought of all that sweet corn. The botanical gardens are almost an hour's drive from our place so we don't go as often as we'd like but we always enjoy it when we do get to go. The sweet corn fest was part of the new Harvest Garden, an edible garden, with fruits, vegetables, and a small vineyard. It's still in it's beginning stages but will be enjoyable as it grows a little more.

We had no idea there were so many kinds of sweet corn. We tasted...well actually, we had all we could eat of about six different kinds. Wade's favorite was bodacious. Megan's favorite started with the letter "A" but we can't remember the name...there were too many to remember...oh well. As you can see from the pictures, it was delicious! (For a certain friend who might care to know...we left no corn on the cob = )

After filling ourselves with sweet corn, we walked through the rest of the gardens taking lots of pictures and enjoying the refreshing weather. It was also nice to be out of the city for awhile. So July is nearly over and on to August we go.
